Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful applicant will become
an instrumental part of the VIZIONX Defence safety team.
Additionally, as with all other roles within the business, this role will
also require you to contribute to internal development and growth of the Company.

Working within the Defence environment this leading Australian consultancy
provides support to the Royal Australian Navy in achieving its workplace health
and safety strategy, governance and compliance requirements. As a WHS leader,
you will manage small projects to implement safety initiatives in your
specialist area. Working closely with the customer’s staff, you will engage
and consult, develop solutions and manage change within a dynamic organisation.
Domestic travel is not anticipated, but may be required.
Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Develop and optimise systems, processes, and initiatives
to improve WHS performance and culture.
Contribute to a culture of trust, accountability and continuous improvement
within the team; one that aligns with Navy values.
Engage, coach and mentor the Navy WHS team to ensure their
ongoing professional and personal development.
Provide guidance and support for the implementation of the WHS initiatives
to improve performance within the Safety Management System.
Contribute to the development and implementation of
WHS strategic planning and related initiatives.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to promote
common objectives, standards, procedures and contribute to continuous improvement.
Develop plans and schedules for small projects to achieve
deliverables and outcomes for the customer.
Configuration management of project and customer artefacts
in accordance with relevant standards.

Organisation, prioritisation, attention to detail and accuracy
come naturally to you because it’s in your blood and you just get it.

You should hold a recognised qualification (minimum diploma - preferably degree or post-grad)
in a WHS, Risk Management, Systems Safety or Safety Assurance related field.
Our clients demand a minimum of 8 years in WHS or Safety related roles involving high risk
work environments, with substantial experience at Supervisor level or above.
(We may consider less than 8 years' experience for the right candidates)
You are a great communicator.
You need excellent written and spoken English for these roles.
You have to hit the ground running.
Previous consulting experience preferred.
To work in our Defence Division you must be eligible for
and must have the ability to maintain a Defence Security Clearance
which means you must be an Australian citizen.
Demonstrable experience in development, implementation and delivery of
Workplace Health and Safety, Safety Management Systems.
Demonstrable experience using change management philosophy, approaches
and activities to ensure successful project implementation.
Demonstrable experience in developing organisational policies
and procedures to support critical safety areas.
With this type of background and experience we'd expect you'll have
training developed some expertise in niche areas, whether that be
high-risk work, auditing against standards, incident investigation,
hazchem or developing communication projects around set campaigns.

Under-graduate or Post-graduate in above listed discipline/s.
Leadership, Business or Management.
Lead Auditor (Safety, Quality, Regulations or Standards).
Certificate IV or higher qualification in Training and Education.

Experience in the Defence industry.
Experience developing, documenting and evidencing
Safety Assurance arguments, reports, statements and Safety Cases.
Experience resolving complex Risk and Safety issues.
Experience in Safety Management Systems, and application of
hazard and risk management principles.
Experience developing hazard analysis, managing hazard logs
and facilitating hazard workshops.
Experience undertaking Independent Safety Assessment in
Rail, Defence, Aviation, Mining, Transport or other industries.
Experience preparing safety case arguments using Goal Structured Notation.
Experience identifying improvements and actions required to ensure
compliance with Safety Legislation and Safety Management Systems.
Experience managing projects (preferably with knowledge of PRINCE2).
